provides a variety of UV and IR flame scanners with both self-check and non-self check capabilities. These scanners require a separate amplifier for a single burner or multi-burner applications. The following Fireye flame scanners are used in conjunction with the appropriate Fireye flame safeguard controls to provide reliable flame detection on a variety of burner applications and fuel types. Typical Model codes include 45UV5, 55UV5, 48PT2 & UV1A.
Description:The Fireye 55UV5 scanners use a UV-eye detector. This detector is a sealed, gas-filled, UV-sensitive tube containing two electrodes connected to a source of AC voltage.
55UV5 self-checking scanners are used to detect ultraviolet emissions from fossil fuel flames such as natural gas, coke oven gas, propane, methane, butane, kerosene, light petroleum distillates and diesel fuels and are suitable for use in Class I, Div. 2, Groups A, B, C, D and Class II, Div. 2 Groups F and G hazardous locations. These 55UV5 models are used only with the Flame-Monitor™, D-Series, FlameWorx and MicroM control models to provide flame safeguard and monitoring systems for supervised manual, semi-automatic and fully automatic single burner boilers, process ovens and heaters.
Description:The UV90L Series Scanner is designed for front and lateral (90°) mounting which, in some applications allow the scanners to obtain a clearer view of the flame.
The UV scanner is ideally suited for gaseous fuels (natural gas & propane). However, it can be used in detecting flames from standard fuel gases, some waste gases and light oil fuels such as No. 2 oil. Flames from heavier oils can be detected with UV scanners but the unburned fuel shroud and/or atomization shroud can block the passage of the UV from the flame zone to the UV tube, causing nuisance burner/boiler trips. Infrared detection is recommended for fuel oil heavier than No. 2, and some installations where waste gases are burned together with natural gas as the main flame.
Description:The UV1A series scanner is an ultraviolet miniature non-self-checking scanner suitable for fuel gases and no. 2 oil. Non-replaceable tube.
The UV tube is made of quartz and is filled with a gas that ionizes when struck by UV radiation from the flame. In the absence of UV radiation, the gas acts as an insulator between two electrodes that are mounted inside the tube. These electrodes are energized continuously by a high voltage. During combustion, UV radiation ionizes the gas, causing current pulses to flow between the electrodes. These current pulses result in a flame signal which is transmitted to the amplifier in the control, where it is processed to energize or hold in the flame relay.
Description:The 48PT2 lead sulfide infrared scanner contains a low impedance detector and is designed to detect low flicker frequency IR signals from gas and oil flames.
It is designed for use on D-Series, FlameMonitor, FlameWorx, MicroM and Burnerlogix controls. The mounting collar is 1/2″ NPT with straight or 90 mounts. Available with 4 ft (121.9m) or 8 ft (243.8m) flexible conduit. Replaceable 4-263-1 sensor cell.
IFRK – IR Fiber Optic With 3′ or 5′ Fiber Bundle Used With 48PT2- 100X Infrared Scanner
Description:The Fireye 45UV5 self-checking scanners are used to detect ultraviolet emissions from fossil fuel flames such as natural gas, coke oven gas, propane, methane, butane, kerosene, light petroleum distillates and diesel fuels.
These 45UV5 models are used only with the Flame-Monitor™, BurnerLogix™, D-Series, FlameWorx, MicroM and some P-Series Fireye control models to provide flame safeguard and monitoring systems for supervised manual, semi-automatic and fully automatic single burner boilers, process ovens and heaters.
The 45UV5 scanners use a UV-eye detector. This detector is a sealed, gas-filled, UV-sensitive tube containing two electrodes connected to a source of AC voltage. When UV radiation of sufficient energy falls upon the electrodes, electrons are released and the inter-electrode gas becomes conductive, resulting in an electric current flow from one electrode to the other. The current flow starts and ends abruptly and is known as an “avalanche.”
Description:IR Fiber Optic With 3′ or 5′ Fiber Bundle Used With 48PT2- 100X Infrared Scanner
The Fireye IRFK fiber optic bundle has been designed for installation on burners where diffusers, sight pipe alignment, or burner apparatus would obscure the target flame away from the line of sight of a conventional surface mounted scanner. In burner boiler applications, where it is undesirable to mount the scanner in the blast tube, the 48PT2-100X scanner can be extended external to the burner. To avoid mechanical damage, care must be used during the handling of the fiber optic bundle and during assembly installation. Refer to manual CU-IRFK for more information.
